Larry the Coffee Fairy

by     4 Comments    Posted under: Adventures in Real Life

I work with a wonderful gent by the name of Larry. Larry has some of the best stories I’ve ever heard, and if I’m unable to convince him to start a blog soon, I may begin reproducing them here just for posterity’s sake.

This is the story of why I began calling Larry “the Coffee Fairy”.

Larry likes to drink a cup of coffee in the morning. He also indulges in a cup or two in the afternoon, and maybe a few cups at night. I’d say he averages a pot or so a day. Man likes his coffee.

Some of you may remember that the company I work for recently moved to a brand spankin’ new facility. It has carpet. The owners were justifiably concerned about spills, so they decided to purchase a very nice lidded cup for everyone. The cups are identical.

Larry, being a man who enjoys coffee, visited the men’s room. He finished his business, washed his hands, picked up his coffee cup and left. The cup was empty, so he stopped off at the break room on his way back to his desk and topped it off. At his desk, he relaxed back in the seat and set the coffee cup down…right next to his coffee cup.

Whups.

So he goes back to the restroom, and the same stall that had been occupied on his previous trip was still occupied. He silently left the (now full) coffee cup where he’d picked it up, and left.

I can only imagine the reaction of the cup’s true owner, picking up his no longer empty cup and boggling at the fact that it was now full of fresh, hot coffee.

As a side note, Larry also managed to pull the exact same trick with MY coffee cup during a trip to my cubicle. It was only after this second “magically filled coffee cup” episode that he (and the rest of my department, out of self defense) added labels to our cups.

  • I literally laughed outloud at that one, probably because it’s something I would do :-) If you can talk him into starting a blog be sure to let us know!
    .-= Lauren´s last blog ..All Quiet =-.

  • @Lauren
Same here – dangerous, everyone having the same cup! *laughs*

  • In my family, we have the opposite tradition. Our glass is usually the full one. This rule is especially enforced when you involve wine.

  • @Brad-o
*laughs* Sounds a bit like my family gatherings!
