Twitter Poll

by     7 Comments    Posted under: In Which I Blog About Blogging

So the twitter thing seems to be sticking. I’ve been putting up random observations, slice of life, and conversational snippets. That seems to work fine for me.

In the meantime, I have a question.

How many of you like getting “I just made a blog post! Link!” tweets?

They seem very popular. Personally, I just skim past them because everyone who I follow on Twitter, I also have their blog in my blog reader, so I get the updates anyway.

I was curious if people were passionately for or against the blog post notifications via Twitter.

  • I have TwitterFeed (I think) set up to do that automatically; or at least, it’s supposed to…I don’t check.

But to answer your question, I don’t mind them. It might get me to look at an article sooner (and actually visit the site!) rather than wait for the GReader update. It also depends on who the blogger is. ;)

  • I don’t hate them but like you, I don’t really get them. My reader’s a bit slow, so I see them and think to myself ‘oh, I’ll get your post in a couple hours’

But most of the time, they’re regular posters who post daily anyway. >.>

I much prefer when someone tweets a nifty blog post they found “so-and-so posts on {blah} at {url}” because that’s awesome.

  • As someone who does not Twit, per se, I miss out entirely.

  • I don’t mind them. Alot of times I have the person on my reader, but if I haven’t looked that day and see it on twitter I will go to the site from there.

  • Two twanswer twour twuestion, twi twont tweet. Twalso, twyping twike twis is freaking annoying. Stupid Google Wave video making me want to prepend “tw” to everything involving twitter.

  • Meh, it lets me know something new is up otherwise I may not read it until i get to work very late at night…

  • @Everyone
Thank you all so much for weighing in! It sounds like it balances out. Some people like the advance notification (which I can understand, as the time zone settings on my various blogs are wonky, so I just leave it at default, which means sometimes I post a good five hours before it shows up in my feed reader), and other people, like me, don’t really use them.
