Hiding Book Buying Links

by     3 Comments    Posted under: On The Art of Authoring

I read a blog article recently (sadly, I did not save the link) wherein the blogger was advising authors with websites on a point that the blogger felt was dreadfully obvious.

If I want to buy your book, said the blogger, do not hide the means to do so from me.

How would I feel if Iris or Steve or Bre or Jodi or Authoress hid links to buy a book they’d written? I’d send them emails, build graphics for them, hound them until they made the link huge and obvious and accessible from every page of their site!

Ahem. Erm. So.

That’s good advice.

And I wasn’t following it.

I didn’t want to seem pushy or self-centered by having a big, obvious “buy my book!” sign on my website.

Worse than silly, it makes it look like I’m EMBARRASSED to have a book available for purchase. Which I am not. I am proud of Choose, and proud to be  part in such an amazing community of voters.

So!

You will now find a link to buy my book on my sidebar. In the future, it will look less lonely. I added a similar link to Choose’s sidebar as well.

  • EXCELLENT! And I promise, if I ever publish anything, I will advertise it! :D

Oh…and I love the optimism of “Buy the Books” *grin*

  • @A Different Steve
That’s not optimism! *laughs* That’s INTENT. Can you be arrested for intent to publish?
