Romance Yardsale

by     2 Comments    Posted under: On The Art of Authoring

MG Buehrlen and Bria Quinlan* are a pair of YA writers holding a fundraiser to get them to the Romance Writers of America National Conference.

As part of this goal, they’re offering up a Romance Yardsale full of Cafepress goodies made especially for writers!

Don’t think I’m blogging about this out of pure altruism – they’re also holding a contest to win something from their cafepress store. I got special permission from Bria to feature more than one item (even if I win the contest, I’ll only get one) because I simply couldn’t decide at a single glance what I’d want if I won!

Here, see what I’m dealing with?

Notebook

Look at this. “Eavesdropping” notebook. How perfect is this? I love notebooks as a rule (any kind of office supplies, really) but who wouldn’t love one perfectly made for doing “research”?

Drinking Mug

Or what about this? Is that soy milk in your coffee, Tami, or is that a nip of irish cream? (None of your business!) How hilariously appropriate is this mug?

Writer’s Block Tank Top

Or! (OR! as if we needed more clever sayings on items I would actually use) how about a pink tank top declaring the true meaning of writer’s block? (Says : “Writer’s Block: When Your Imaginary Friends Stop Talking to You”)

Mousepads

More? You want more? THEY GOT MORE.

I don’t even have a mousepad for my writing laptop, and the mousepad for my main computer looks like I use it to feed a colony of mice. I don’t even remember what it used to say, but I think it was a freebie from a business swapmeet in college.

How about a quote from Nathanial Hawthorne to remind me that writing well is hard for everyone (with a subtext of Don’t Give Up! or possibly Get Me Some More Irish Cream!).

Or maybe something equally inspiring, but more along the lines that failure is more than just okay – it would be expected and embraced?

Cupcake Ninja Apron
This last one (I promise, I’ll stop now. There are so many awesome products and phrases; it was hard to narrow down even this far) doesn’t even really need introduction, but anyone who reads Choose knows why I think this is so awesome.

Cupcake Ninja. On an apron. And it says “FROST THIS”.

Every time I wore it, I’d think of Jinn.

(What does this have to do with writing, you ask? Are you a writer? Do you like cupcakes? How about ninjas? I rest my case.)

  • omg I want that tank top!!

  • @Tristina
ALL of the stuff is available in a lot of different shirt options. I’m not much of a t-shirt wearer these days, so I focused on non-shirt for the most part.

Check > http://romanceyardsale.wordpress.com/ > for a listing of the phrases, since each phrase has its own store.
