A little while back, I was approached by a charming young man who requested a surprise commission for his wife.

Cautious (though flattered) I did some checking. What, pray tell, would this commission be of, I asked.

Squirrels, says he.

I grinned the great big grin of an artist asked to draw something WONDERFUL.

Sketches were quickly approved, and the inking/coloring stage completed.

To everyone’s delight, the gift recipient LOVED the piece, as you can see from the submitted happy photo!

Happy birthday, Kirsten. That Jace guy seems pretty awesome – great catch there! May this year treat you splendiferously, and may it be filled with a great many adorable, bushy-tailed squirrels. <3

Free Children’s Book!*

Today I would like to provide for you an illustrated children’s book, for free! It would probably be rated PG-13 for underpants, monsters and violence. So, you know, not for babies.

Here’s what the back flap would say:

The author and illustrator is… ME! I did this way back in the late ’90s when I was working for/with Mother of Three, Anne (a frequent commenter). When I wasn’t filing, copying or wrangling the gel pens, I was entertaining the childrens! One day we made our own books.
